Normal or Crazy?
One of the most important things I do for people, I think, is to reassure them that they aren’t ‘crazy’ when they are hearing spirits or getting intuitive or psychic input. In fact, I’ve done my fair share of reassuring myself of the same thing… that I’m not totally nuts for believing that I really am talking to my spirit guide or that this person really DOES give me bad vibes. Here are a few ways to combat that :
1. Know that ‘crazy’ and ‘normal’ are completely subjective. A whole lot of that is based upon our culture and society. Do some research into foreign cultures and get a feel for how ‘crazy’ some of them seem to you. THEY find themselves perfectly normal!
2. Know that some of what you think is ‘crazy’ is learned. When we’re kids, we learn not to question our parents (mostly). Think about how much of what you believe is ‘crazy’ is based upon what your parents, church or school taught you as a child. Allow yourself to now go back and question those beliefs.
3. Find community and get a reality check every now and then with people you know and trust who are open to the same possibilities and theories that you are. Run your ideas and experiences past them and get their take on it to get a response that is more in line with your way of thinking.
4. Find a spiritual counselor or metaphysical-friendly priest or clergy member to talk to. They are trained and have experience in helping you get clarity on your thoughts about this sort of thing.
