Being Awake

Awakened and Enlightened can almost be used interchangeably. However, there are some connotations attached to ‘enlightened’ that I prefer to avoid. For that reason, I use the term ‘awakened’.

Although not every awakened person will have all of these characteristics and the severity of characteristics will vary depending upon where you are on your personal life path, most of these characteristics hold true for awakened people.

I’d like to also point out that while some of these symptoms might seem harsh or judgmental, to a frustrated awake person, they will seem right on.

Awakened people are strong willed. They might be labeled as free thinkers because their thoughts and ideas do not conform to what society says is possible and they might be labeled as stubborn because once they get their mind set on something, they are not likely to relent.

Often find yourself noticing that the rest of the world is crazy.
The fact is, very few people you run across on a daily basis have touched awakening. That means that most of the earths population is operating on an entirely different frequency. Every now and then you are tempted to believe that you are the crazy one but then you see something else that shows you otherwise.

Tend towards anxiety and depression.
Becoming awakened means seeing a wider perspective and accepting more possibility. With expanded awareness, comes an expanded field of worry. Where you might not have noticed that Sue seems like she is feeling down before, you notice that now and have one more reason to worry. You are also more aware of the need to measure up to a wider variety of standards. You have a tendency to want to be everything for everyone.

Increasingly frustrated with others inability to get it.
Lets face it, the rest of the world doesnt even SEE most of what the typical awakened person sees. An awake person might see the OBVIOUS pattern that someone is living over and over again, while that person sees only the individual situation. An awake person might see the obvious outcome of a situation, while the person experiencing it is convinced that they know exactly what will happen – and they are wrong because they don’t see it.

Fast Thinker
Usually, an awake person is very intelligent. Perhaps not classically… sometimes the intelligence is an emotional intelligence. However, all awake people think very quickly. This often makes them think of the people around them as ‘slow’ or even ‘stupid’ and causes quite a bit of frustration.

Never feel like you ‘fit in’ – or feel fundamentally different than most people
You could perfectly mimic the most popular person in the world and still not feel like you are doing and saying the right things. In fact, you’ve probably tried many times to mimic the others around you, even making it a lifestyle to do so. At the end of the day thoughk, you are aware that you just aren’t like them.

Aware of the Cumbersome Human Experience
All of this tedious body language and need for human drama. Why? It’s all so very slow and confused and muddled.

Often Diagnosed with Neurological Symptoms or Conditions
In general, an awakened person is ‘overly’ neurologically sensitive to certain stimuli. It might be any of their senses. often it’s multiple senses, making interacting with the outside world even more difficult. At any rate, these neurological sensitivities often give the awakened person a differently balanced view on the world that can be interpreted as a condition or disability. An awake person rarely has a neurological DEFICIT.

If you have found yourself nodding through most of these symptoms, I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that yes, you are different. You will never fit in with everyone else and you aren’t meant to.

However, you are not crazy or otherwise deficient. In fact, there is nothing wrong with you and there has never been anything wrong with you. That is actually quite the powerful realization. Think back even to childhood to all of the frustration that those around you felt. There was never anything wrong with you. In fact, I rather think that being Awake is a gift, albeit a difficult one to carry sometimes.

Being awake is what my buddy and I call it also. We both know a lot of people and we’re the only ones like this. We’re both highly intelligent in the way you mentioned. Interesting that someone else out there shares the same thought path. Wish I could find more info on ppl like us. Nice writeup!
