When meditation is mentioned, the first image that comes to most people’s minds is that of a serene practitioner of Eastern Religion sitting upright, cross legged, perfectly still. This practitioner is able to maintain this position for hours and with meditation can still his heartbeat and control his breath.
There may be some truth to this image, and there are practitioners of meditation who achieve this state. However, we are real people with real lives who will not become monks or live in a monastery. We have stressors that come along with that real life like bills, family, job, relationships and home expectations.
Meditation for the average person is a process of learning to still our minds enough to allow us moments of peace and an over all more relaxed approach to life. It’s only difficulty is in learning to not make it difficult!
In this class, we cover the myths of meditation, meditation and the brain, how to engage your brain in meditation and several easy to use techniques as well as getting some minds-on practice.
